The City of Pocatello Parks & Recreation Department announced a temporary closure of the Optimist Skatepark to address necessary maintenance. The facility at 972 N. 7th Avenue will shut down starting Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Artisan Skateparks is returning to the site to complete final work under the warranty portion of its contract with the city. Officials stated the repairs focus on minor chips and cracks resulting from normal outdoor weather exposure and general wear and tear.
The maintenance project is expected to last between five and seven days. The skate park will remain closed until all work is finished and officials determine the area is safe for public use again. Residents are asked to avoid the site during this period.
