PCSD 25 Schedules Senior KickStart for Oct. 14 in Chubbuck

Pocatello Chubbuck School District 25 will hold its annual Senior KickStart event Oct. 14 at Portneuf Valley Technical Education and Career Campus, 4200 Hawthorne Road, in Chubbuck.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is intended for students planning to graduate in 2027. Students and families can receive help with college, career, training and other post-high-school planning tasks.

Participants can work on applications, inquiries, scholarships and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Idaho State University’s Financial Aid Office and College of Technology will participate, along with Storm Jansson from the Office of the State Board of Education and additional college admissions representatives.

PCSD 25 high school college and career advisors and other district staff will also be available. Students can learn about Bengal Bridge and TRiO, and hourly orientations to the event’s tables and tasks will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The four Pocatello high schools represented are Pocatello, Century, New Horizon and Highland. Private colleges listed for the event include the College of Idaho, Westminster University and Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Students are encouraged to attend with a parent or guardian, particularly to receive support with FAFSA submission. Organizers estimate that most senior-year to-do-list items can be completed in less than two hours.

Students should bring their Social Security number, a fully charged phone, a fully charged Chromebook or laptop, access to a regularly checked personal email account with ample storage, and a credit or debit card. A card may be needed for applications to out-of-state schools.

Questions can be directed to college and career advisors at PCSD 25 high schools.
