Victor Guillen has launched a new dining establishment in Pocatello, bringing around-the-clock service to the city’s restaurant scene. Birrieria El Antojo opened its doors at 408 S. Fourth Ave., positioning itself as a late-night option for students and residents near Idaho State University.
Guillen and his family, originally from Mexico, relocated to Idaho three to six months ago to prepare for the business launch. The family operates the restaurant together, aiming to introduce authentic flavors to the local market.
“We opened it because we wanted to bring good food to Idaho,” Guillen said.
The menu features a wide array of Mexican staples, including tacos, burritos, and breakfast dishes. Customers can order mini or large tacos filled with birria, carnitas, asada, fish, chicken, or lengua. Burrito options range from traditional bean and cheese to seafood varieties featuring shrimp or fish.
The restaurant also offers location-specific items, such as a special Idaho burrito loaded with fries, cream, cheese, carne asada, and guacamole, and a Pocatello burrito topped with bacon and potatoes. Breakfast selections include huevo con chorizo and huevo rancheros, while a children’s menu provides chicken nuggets, pizza, and quesadilla fries.
Fresh fruit juices in pineapple and cantaloupe flavors are available as beverages. Prices for main entrees like burritos and tacos hover around $13.
Early community response has been positive, with patrons noting the convenience of 24-hour availability and praising the quality of the food.
“We found it in Pocatello. I’m so excited,” Guillen said.
