The College of Eastern Idaho’s Early College Program has earned accreditation from the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, the only national accrediting body for programs that allow high school students to earn college credit while still completing their secondary education.
CEI was among just 10 institutions nationwide to receive initial accreditation during the same timeframe, completing a comprehensive self-study and peer-review process to qualify. Reviewers specifically highlighted the program’s instructional support and student advising department as areas of strength. The accreditation is valid for five years.
The recognition comes as the program has expanded significantly, growing roughly 20 percent annually over the past three years. That growth is credited to new partnerships with local school districts and rising student demand for dual enrollment options. In the 2025-26 school year alone, the program served approximately 2,800 students.
NACEP Director of Accreditation Andrea Roma said the organization is “proud to recognize programs that invest in this rigorous process and demonstrate their dedication to high standards in concurrent enrollment.”
CEI works alongside regional school districts to ensure the program aligns with nationally recognized academic standards — a requirement central to the NACEP accreditation process.
The achievement reflects broader momentum in Southeast Idaho around workforce preparation and higher education access. Idaho State University recently reaffirmed its own commitment to workforce development, healthcare, and rural Idaho communities as part of its 125th anniversary milestone, underscoring a regional push to connect students with post-secondary pathways earlier in their academic careers.
What Comes Next: CEI will maintain its NACEP accreditation status for five years, during which continued growth in school district partnerships and dual enrollment course offerings is expected. The program’s expanding reach positions Eastern Idaho students to enter college or the workforce with credits already in hand.
