Valley Mission Sells Raffle Tickets for New Rescue Facility

Valley Mission is selling raffle tickets to raise funds for a new rescue mission facility in Pocatello, Idaho. The organization launched the campaign with a 2019 Cub Cadet MX 750 EPS utility task vehicle as the grand prize.

Tickets are available for $20 each or six for $100. Interested buyers can purchase entries online through the Valley Mission website. The drawing to select the winner is scheduled for noon on Oct. 9.

Construction Needs Final Push

The raffle proceeds will help complete construction of a full-service rescue mission at a property Valley Mission purchased in 2020. The organization acquired the former Metro Gym and Spa building to transform it into a comprehensive support center for the community.

Total project costs are estimated at approximately $2.6 million. Valley Mission reports that just over $600,000 remains to be raised to finish the build-out. Construction crews are working to open specific sections of the facility in phases.

The food pantry is targeted for opening this fall, while the emergency shelter is expected to be ready by winter. Once completed, the building will house multiple services under one roof.

Planned Services and Capacity

The finished facility will include a commercial kitchen and dining area to support meal services. It will also feature an 18-bed emergency shelter for those in immediate need of housing assistance.

Longer-term support will be available through a 16-bed transformational living program. The building will also contain a medical clinic, administrative offices, and dedicated office space for up to five local partner agencies. This setup allows multiple organizations to coordinate services efficiently.

Karl Pettit, director of Valley Mission, thanked the donor who contributed the UTV to the raffle.

“We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation from one of our community members,” Pettit said.

Pettit emphasized that ticket sales directly impact the timeline for opening the new services. He noted that every purchase helps move the project closer to completion, providing food, safe shelter, and resources for individuals looking to rebuild their lives.
