A 41-year-old Pocatello woman has died following an e-bike crash that occurred Saturday afternoon near downtown, authorities confirmed this week.
Celeste Johnson was riding an e-bike around 4 p.m. Saturday near the Albertsons supermarket on East Benton Street when the crash occurred. No other vehicles were involved. Johnson did not immediately report the incident to police, and she also declined to seek medical attention at the time.
A Delayed Trip to the Hospital
Hours after the crash, Johnson began experiencing pain and was transported to Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot by the adult daughter of a friend. While receiving treatment at the hospital Saturday night, Johnson collapsed and died.
The Bingham County Coroner’s Office has opened an investigation into the death. Authorities have stated they do not consider the circumstances surrounding Johnson’s death to be suspicious at this time, though a full autopsy has been ordered to determine the official cause and manner of death.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday at a facility in Ada County. However, the coroner’s office cautions that final results are unlikely to be available quickly — the full toxicology and pathology analysis is expected to take at least three months before a final determination can be released.
