Pocatello Leaders Host Budget Town Hall July 20 for Public Input

Idaho State Capitol dome

Pocatello residents are invited to attend a public town hall on July 20 to hear directly from city leadership about the municipal budget and ask questions about city operations and spending priorities.

The meeting runs from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers, located at City Hall, 911 N. Seventh Ave. in Pocatello. Mayor Mark Dahlquist and City Council members will host the event alongside Chief Financial Officer Rich Morgan, who will present an overview of the city’s budget.

The format includes Morgan’s presentation followed by a question-and-answer session, giving residents an opportunity to raise concerns or seek clarification on city finances and priorities. Those planning to attend can sign in at the Council Chambers entry table beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The city will record the meeting and post it to the Pocatello city YouTube channel by the following day for residents unable to attend in person.

City Council members attending include Ann Swanson, Corey Mangum, Dakota Bates, Hayden Paulsen, Brent Nichols, and Stacy Satterfield.

Budget town halls provide a direct avenue for constituent feedback on municipal spending and can inform council decisions on property tax assessments, service levels, and capital projects. The city recently updated household yard sale restrictions under city code, and ongoing discussions about street renaming remain in discussion among city leadership.

What Comes Next

Residents with questions about the budget or city services ahead of the meeting can contact Pocatello City Hall or review posted budget documents on the city website prior to July 20.
