Pocatello Launches Free Mobile App to Help Residents Track Waste Collection Days

The City of Pocatello has released a free mobile application designed to streamline waste management for local households by providing personalized garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection schedules at residents’ fingertips.

Called “Pocatello – The One and Only,” the app allows users to enter their street address and immediately view their customized pickup calendar. The application also enables residents to sign up for weekly reminders tied to their collection days, reducing the likelihood of missed pickups.

Features and Functionality

Beyond basic scheduling, the app includes a Waste Wizard tool that helps residents determine the proper disposal method for thousands of items. The feature is intended to reduce the volume of recyclable materials incorrectly sent to landfills and guide households toward appropriate disposal practices for everything from household chemicals to electronics.

The platform also delivers real-time sanitation service updates and notifies users of any schedule changes, allowing residents to adapt their routines without disruption.

Tom Kirkman, the city’s Public Works Director, characterized the tool as a practical resource for residents. “The Pocatello – The One and Only app makes it easy for residents to stay connected to City services,” he said.

Access and Availability

The app is available for free download. Residents interested in using the service can access it through the city’s website at pocatello.gov/998/Mobile-App or download it directly to their mobile devices.

The city’s investment in digital waste management tools reflects a broader effort to improve municipal service delivery and environmental stewardship in Bannock County. As Pocatello continues to address infrastructure and service efficiency, digital platforms like this app allow residents to manage their obligations more conveniently while supporting the city’s sustainability goals.

Those managing household waste streams and seeking to stay informed about collection schedules can begin using the app immediately. The tool addresses a common household challenge—remembering collection day—while simultaneously promoting better recycling practices across the city.

Pocatello has also focused on community services and infrastructure improvements this summer, including cooling stations open to residents as temperatures approach triple digits and ongoing restoration work at historic Pocatello sites.
