X-Treme Collectibles has opened its doors at a significantly larger location in Pocatello, marking the latest expansion for the local hobby retailer. The shop is now situated at 440 E. Clark St., occupying the space previously used by Southwick Blackbelt Academy near Idaho State University. The new storefront is approximately six times the size of the original location on Arthur Avenue, which opened around 2020. Owner Kevin Wallin has been involved in the collectibles trade since 2007, operating several stores in Las Vegas before relocating his operations to Pocatello. The expansion allows the business to offer a wider variety of products and dedicated recreational space for card game enthusiasts.
A Family-Run Enterprise
The operation remains firmly rooted in family leadership. Wallin’s children work alongside him, and Tyson Shupe, Wallin’s son-in-law, serves as the general manager. Shupe joined the company roughly a year and a half ago to help manage the day-to-day operations and oversee the transition to the larger facility.
“This is all family,” Wallin told the Idaho State Journal regarding the staff dynamic. “We’re very passionate about what we do, very personable with the customers, because we want them to keep coming back and feel comfortable here.”
This personal approach aims to build a loyal customer base in Southeast Idaho. The store’s inventory includes popular trading card games such as Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Palworld. In addition to cards, the shop stocks autographed memorabilia, Funko Pop figures, sports cards, and 3D-printed items.
Gaming Space and Community Events
Beyond retail sales, the new location emphasizes community engagement through dedicated gaming areas. The store features a space with capacity for up to 36 people, designed specifically for organized play. Arcade machines are also available, charging $1 for 10 minutes of play.
Management plans to host weekly game nights focusing on Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, and One Piece. Wallin indicated that Dungeons and Dragons sessions may be added to the schedule in the future. Additionally, a monthly trade night has been established, with the next event expected around September 18.
“We want to be the big place for people to go and enjoy themselves, not just come here and buy things, but to come and use our space to play games,” Shupe told the Idaho State Journal.
Customer Perks and Future Plans
To attract younger customers, the store offers mystery packs of Pokemon cards to children on their birthdays. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering a welcoming environment for families and collectors alike. New store merchandise and an updated logo are currently in development, signaling further brand growth.
