The National Weather Service office in Pocatello issued a frost advisory early Monday morning, warning residents of sub-freezing temperatures across parts of Bannock County and surrounding regions.
The alert was activated at 1:05 a.m. MDT on September 15 and remains in effect until 9:00 a.m. that same day. Forecasters predict temperatures will drop to approximately 34 degrees Fahrenheit, creating conditions ripe for frost formation.
The advisory covers several distinct areas, including the Shoshone and Lava Beds region, the Arco and Mud Lake Desert area, as well as both the Lower and Upper Snake River Plains.
Local gardeners and agricultural operators are urged to take protective measures. Frost can damage sensitive outdoor vegetation, potentially killing plants if they are left exposed overnight. Covering tender crops or bringing potted plants indoors is recommended to prevent crop loss during this cold snap.
