Malad Places Three, Salmon Two on Idaho 3A Baseball All-Tournament Team

Mountain Home Air Force Base

The Idaho 3A baseball state tournament produced five honorees from a pair of Southeast Idaho programs, as Malad High School and Salmon both landed players on the All-Tournament Team announced June 10. IdahoSports.com broadcasters Gary Jones and Craig Miller were responsible for the selections across the full 3A classification.

Malad’s Dragons, who came up short in a bid to repeat as state champions, nonetheless sent three players to the honored list. Kurt Ward gained recognition on the mound as a pitcher, while Hudson Daniels and junior Easton Green were both acknowledged for their contributions at the plate and in the field.

First-Ever State Appearance Pays Off for Salmon

The Salmon Savages made their presence felt despite participating in their first state tournament in program history. Broc Mathews and Reuel McCallum each earned hitter/fielder honors, a meaningful result for a program reaching that stage for the first time. The pair’s recognition underscores the growth of Salmon baseball and signals a program gaining ground within the 3A classification.

Orofino’s Ethan Gilmore took home the tournament’s top individual award, earning Tournament MVP honors. The Orofino program placed four total players on the All-Tournament roster: Blake Barlow at pitcher, along with Nicholas Bonner, Quinton Naranjo, and Hudson Schneider in the hitter/fielder slots. Melba rounded out the team with pitcher Colter Bodily and hitters/fielders Aden Arrington and Ty Martineau also receiving All-Tournament recognition.

What Comes Next

The 3A state baseball season is now complete for all participating programs. Malad enters the offseason with proven talent still on the roster, including junior Easton Green, giving the Dragons a nucleus around which to build toward a championship run in 2027. The program’s inability to defend its title this year will likely serve as motivation heading into the next campaign.

For Salmon, the conclusion of this tournament marks the end of a historic chapter — a first-ever state appearance that yielded genuine All-Tournament recognition. That milestone gives the Savages a platform to recruit, develop, and return to postseason play in coming seasons. No further scheduled postseason games remain for either program at this time.
