Idaho State Police have identified Dr. Mark Baker, 66, as the victim of a fatal collision with an elk on Interstate 15. The crash occurred Monday evening, Sept. 14, shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Baker was driving a 2022 BMW Z4 northbound just north of the Utah-Idaho border, south of Malad in Oneida County, when he struck the animal. Authorities confirmed his identity following the incident.
A longtime oral surgeon with Oral Surgery Specialists of Idaho, Baker practiced in Pocatello. Dr. Shawn Jepsen has stepped in to continue caring for Baker’s current patients during this transition.
