ICCU Splashpad at OK Ward Park opens for the season on Saturday

Families in Pocatello will have a new reason to head outdoors this weekend as the ICCU Splashpad at OK Ward Park reopens for the summer season on Saturday, May 23.

The garden-themed water play area, spanning nearly 3,000 square feet, will welcome visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The facility was made possible through a $400,000 donation from Idaho Central Credit Union, whose naming rights are reflected in the splashpad’s title.

A Community Asset Funded by Local Investment

The splashpad represents a significant private investment in Pocatello’s parks infrastructure. Idaho Central Credit Union’s contribution funded the entire project, providing a free or low-cost outdoor recreation option for local families throughout the summer months. The garden theme gives the facility a distinct character, with water features designed to engage younger children in an interactive outdoor environment.

OK Ward Park, located within Pocatello’s city park system, serves as a popular gathering point for families across Bannock County. The addition of a dedicated splashpad has expanded the park’s appeal as a warm-weather destination.

What to Know Before You Go

The splashpad opens Saturday, May 23, and will operate daily throughout the season. Hours are set from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, giving families a full window to visit during warmer parts of the day.

Timing for the opening is notable — temperatures in the region have fluctuated in recent weeks. A freeze warning issued by the National Weather Service in Pocatello earlier this month served as a reminder that Southeast Idaho spring weather can be unpredictable. Saturday’s opening suggests conditions are expected to be more in line with typical late-May temperatures.

What Comes Next

The splashpad’s opening marks the unofficial start of summer recreation season for many Bannock County families. City parks officials have not announced an end date for the season, though splashpad operations in previous years have generally run through late summer. Residents are encouraged to check with the city for any schedule changes or weather-related closures as the season progresses. For more community and regional news, visit Idaho News.
