Tickets on sale for Bannock County rodeo, coming in May

Tickets Now on Sale for Inaugural Bannock County PRCA Rodeo in Pocatello, Idaho

Rodeo fans in Bannock County and across Southeast Idaho have a new event to mark on their calendars. Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Bannock County PRCA Rodeo, set to take place May 22-23 at the Bannock County Events Complex in Pocatello.

Utah-based Big Bucks ProRodeo, the production company behind the event, is promising top-tier Western entertainment across two nights, with shows beginning at 7 p.m. both evenings. The event marks the first time a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association-sanctioned rodeo has carried the Bannock County name, making it a notable addition to the region’s community calendar.

What to Expect at the Bannock County Events Complex

The rodeo lineup will feature a full slate of classic PRCA competition events, including bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding, according to the Bannock County PRCA Rodeo website. Beyond the competition itself, Big Bucks ProRodeo has assembled a roster of specialty performers designed to entertain audiences of all ages.

Trick riders Kate Flitton and Tera Flitton, both from Utah, are scheduled to perform, showcasing precision horsemanship at high speed. Dustin “The Jester” Jenkins, of Missouri, will serve as the rodeo entertainer, described in a news release from Big Bucks as “a fan-favorite known for his quick wit, comedic flair and crowd-pleasing antics.” Bullfighters Andrew Mellencamp and Lelo Garcia — the athletes who protect cowboys from bulls during the riding events — will also be on hand, with Big Bucks calling them “two of the best in the business.”

The family-friendly nature of the event is a clear priority for organizers. Friday, May 22, has been designated Family Night, with one child admitted free for every paying adult. It’s a straightforward draw for Bannock County families looking for affordable summer entertainment rooted in Idaho’s Western heritage.

Saturday Night Features Fort Hall Indian Relay Association

Saturday’s show, May 23, adds a culturally significant element to the evening’s program. Following the main rodeo, Big Bucks ProRodeo has planned a special race featuring the Fort Hall Indian Relay Association. Indian relay racing is one of the most demanding and spectacular events in Native American athletic tradition, with riders switching horses at full gallop — a high-speed competition with deep roots in the region’s history. The inclusion of the Fort Hall Indian Relay Association reflects the strong cultural ties between Bannock County and the Fort Hall Reservation, home of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

The combination of PRCA rodeo competition, trick riding, comedy entertainment, professional bullfighters, and Indian relay racing positions the inaugural event as one of the more well-rounded Western entertainment productions to come to Pocatello in recent memory.

Pocatello has seen a number of community-focused events and initiatives in recent months. Local residents have also rallied around civic efforts, including a public art print presentation honoring Chief Pocatello, reflecting continued community pride across the region.

Ticket Prices and Where to Buy

Adult tickets are priced at $25, and children 12 years old and under can attend for $10. On Family Night, Friday, May 22, one child is admitted free with each paying adult ticket. Tickets can be purchased online through 3Common.com. Additional event information is available at bannockcountyprcarodeo.com.

The Bannock County Events Complex has served as a hub for large-scale gatherings in the region, and the rodeo represents another opportunity for the venue to draw visitors from across Southeast Idaho and beyond. Whether families are planning a Friday night outing or staying for Saturday’s Indian relay racing, organizers say the event is designed to deliver something for every generation.

As Pocatello continues to build out its summer events calendar, residents looking to participate in other community activities may also want to note an upcoming e-waste recycling event in Pocatello, offering residents a chance to safely dispose of old electronics while supporting local environmental efforts.
