Pocatello’s Highland High School Senior Nash Randall Signs Letter of Intent to Play College Baseball in Idaho

POCATELLO, Idaho — Highland High School senior Nash Randall made his college baseball commitment official Friday, signing a letter of intent to attend and play for Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, during a ceremony held inside the Highland High School library.

Randall, a team co-captain for the Highland Rams, was surrounded by current and former classmates, teammates, and coaches as he formalized his plans to continue his athletic career at the next level. The signing ceremony marks a significant milestone for the Pocatello-area student-athlete, who has demonstrated steady development on the mound throughout his high school career.

A Standout Season on the Mound

Randall leads the Rams in pitching appearances this season with seven outings on the mound. Through 20 and two-thirds innings pitched, he has recorded 27 strikeouts while allowing 16 earned runs — numbers that reflect both his arm strength and his growing effectiveness as a pitcher at the high school level.

His path to Highland has itself been a winding one. Randall spent his first three high school seasons playing for the Blackfoot Broncos before joining the Highland program, where he quickly earned a leadership role as co-captain. That transition was influenced in part by his experience playing for the Idaho Prime Baseball Club under Highland head baseball coach Christian Colonel, an experience that left a lasting impression on the young pitcher.

During the signing ceremony, Randall expressed gratitude toward Colonel, thanking him for serving not only as his coach but also as a mentor and friend. Randall noted that his time with the Idaho Prime Baseball Club under Colonel’s direction was a key reason he chose to complete his high school career at Highland.

Coach Praises Randall’s Character and Competitive Drive

Highland head baseball coach Christian Colonel spoke ahead of the signing, offering remarks about the kind of person and competitor Randall has proven himself to be. Colonel highlighted what he described as Randall’s naturally kind-hearted nature off the field — and the sharp contrast that emerges when Randall steps onto the mound, where he becomes a focused and aggressive competitor.

That combination of character and competitive instinct is precisely the kind of quality college programs look for in incoming players, and it appears Treasure Valley Community College saw exactly that in the Highland senior.

Randall will join a Treasure Valley Chukars roster that already includes at least one familiar face. Former Highland graduate Kaulana “Lana” Alvarico, who graduated in 2025, is also a member of the Treasure Valley program. The Chukars compete in the Northwest Athletic Conference, known as the NWAC — a two-year college athletic conference that spans the Pacific Northwest and provides a competitive pathway for players looking to develop their skills and potentially move on to four-year programs.

Community Celebrates a Local Student-Athlete

The library at Highland High School served as a fitting venue for a moment that represents years of hard work, personal growth, and athletic development. Signing ceremonies like this one serve as a reminder of the role that Bannock County schools play in shaping young people — not just academically, but through the discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that come with competitive athletics.

For Highland High School and the Pocatello community, Randall’s signing is a point of pride. His journey — from Blackfoot to Pocatello, from club baseball to a college letter of intent — reflects the kind of individual determination and community support that defines Southeast Idaho athletics.

Treasure Valley Community College is located in Ontario, Oregon, just across the Idaho state line, placing Randall within reasonable distance of his home community as he begins the next chapter of his baseball career.
